Reupholstery

Our upholsterers have many years of experience and an exceptional attention to detail. During reupholstery the furniture is stripped down to the frame, then rebuilt, installing new springs and webs, or replacing the foam as needed. Our technicians are certified in their fields, use state of the art equipment and have a vast knowledge of their line of work. We take pride in every piece of furniture we recover or repair.

We are experts in re-upholstery and can offer advice on fabrics, trimmings and filling types to make sure your sofa or chair is delivered back to you looking, and feeling, brand new.

Thinking about reupholstering an item? Here are our tips on choosing a fabric:

  • Fabric weight: Think about where and how the piece will be used. Bedroom furniture doesn't need to be heavy-duty, but living room furniture usually does. Non-upholstery-weight fabric will work for a purely decorative piece.

  • Fabric durability: Check the Martindale rating of your chosen fabric. This is a rub test for abrasion resistance. Fabrics are given a score in 1000s of double rubs; the higher the number is, the more suitable the fabric is for heavier usage. American fabrics use the Wyzenbeek test.

  • Fabric samples: Take home a fabric sample to tuck into existing furniture to see if you like it. We loan fabric samples so you can see it in situ before making your decision.

  • Fabric choice: If you want to update a piece rather than copy the look it had before, choose a fabric with a different colour, go from a solid to a pattern, or change pattern scales.
